Welcome to Omaha

Omaha is named after a Native American tribe who owned the land the city now sits on. It was founded on July 4th, 1854. Over 150 years later, it is home to over 400,000 people, with more than double that in the metropolitan area.

As the largest city in Nebraska, Omaha has many different neighborhoods. The Old Market is the most historic, with cobblestone streets and brick warehouses and factories turned into restaurants, shops, condos, and more.

Just east of the Old Market is Midtown. Midtown is home to Midtown Crossing, a project build a few years ago, with restaurants, condos, and a large green space that holds various events in the summer including Jazz on the Green, Yoga Rocks the Park, and outdoor movie nights. These events are super popular and their upcoming events can be found here. Just down the street is the Blackstone District, an Instagram backdrop haven.

Then there's Dundee. Dundee is a large neighborhood in Omaha with the cutest houses, great restaurants, and hidden treasures I'm still discovering, even though I've spent a lot of my life here.

North of Dundee is Benson, which used to be its own small town and still has the small town community vibe, but also has some of the best bars in Omaha.

There's so many more neighborhoods that deserve mentioning, but most of the spots I'll be discussing will be around these neighborhoods. Next week I'll be discussing various new and old coffee shops.
